Ellen Virginia Fowler Moon

Ellen Virginia Fowler Moon, 94, of Jones County, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, March 31, 2025. Graveside services will be at Cedar Ridge Cemetery in Gray, Georgia on Thursday, April 3, 2025, at 11:00 a.m., with the Reverend Steve Johnson officiating.

Mrs. Moon was born July 24, 1930, in Dacula, Georgia to the late Roxie Ann Attaway Fowler and William Richard Fowler.  She lived in Gwinnett County until she married and moved to Forest Park, Georgia.  In 1981, the whole family moved to Jones County where she has said she “had never been happier.”

Mrs. Moon was lovingly known to her grandchildren and great-grands as “Ganny.”  A faithful Christian, she was a member of New Hope Baptist Church.  She enjoyed reading, gardening, quilting and yard sales.  Mrs. Moon loved cooking big meals and having the whole family over.  She hosted birthdays, holidays, and Easter egg hunts.

Mrs. Moon was married for 60 years to Walter Garland Moon of LaGrange, Georgia.  She is preceded in death by her husband and both parents; brothers, Billy and Adonnis Fowler of Dacula; and sisters, Doris Bishop of Gray and Edith F. Pharr of Dacula.

She is survived by her daughter, Diane M. Tucker (Marshall) of Gray, Georgia; son, Duane Moon of Jones County; grandchildren, Jason Kyle Tucker (Katrina) of Elijay, Georgia, Leah T. Bodnarchuk (Mike), Mandi Moon and Hannah M. Nesmith (Doyle), all of Gray; and great-grandchildren, Morgan Tucker, Isabella and Michael Bodnarchuk of Gray, Sebastion and Jeremiah Woodard of Savannah, Georgia, Jason and Zeva Ramsey and Alissa Nesmith of Gray.
