Elizabeth Parrish Phillips

April 7, 1929 — June 3, 2017

Mrs. Happy, the little girl with wrinkles, peacefully passed away June 3, 2017. Since the death of her husband in June of 2012, she has enjoyed impeccable health until a short stay in the hospital. She was able to be at the home of Linda-Lea Phillips where she resided for the past five years. Being at home was her happiness, and she so much wanted to be there when she met her husband, Taylor Phillips. The family will greet friends from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 7, 2017 at Hart's Mortuary at the Cupola, 6324 Peake Road, Macon, Georgia. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 8, 2017 at Mulberry Street United Methodist Church. She will be laid to rest with her husband in Americus, Ga. Mrs. Phillips was born on April 7, 1929 in Cairo, Georgia to the late Lasco C. Parrish and Mary Elizabeth Faulkner Parrish. She was blessed with wonderful siblings, Nan Jones and William Parrish, and had a close and loving relationship with them. She was a homemaker to her four children for most of her life. Wanting to stay active in her children's lives, she was involved with countless activities including, Sunday school and church, Girl Scouts, sewing circles, garden club, and school activities. As a seamstress, she sewed all of her children's clothes. Her love of yard sales, led her to turning junk into beauty by refinishing most of the furniture in the Phillips' household. She also taught typing and home economics for many years before becoming a full-time substitute teacher where she instilled in every student the values of having compassion, love, and kindness for all. During her early teaching, she also worked at JC Penney where she was fondly known as the "credit card application lady." She won countless awards for her outstanding achievement in credit card applications. She never let anyone walk past her desk without becoming their friend. Her memory will forever be cherished by her loving and devoted children, Linda-Lea Phillips (Lee), Julia Taylor Phillips Manard (Tom), Mary Susan Phillips, and John Allen Phillips (deceased); siblings, Nan Jones (Paul) and William T. Parrish; grandchildren, Dr. Benjamin T. Manard (Anna), Ryan A. Manard, and Jennifer A. Phillips; nieces, Laura Jones Pasteka (Farron), Chimene Jones Johnson (Darren), and Heather Parrish Julian (Greg); and many loving great nieces, great nephews, and seven fur babies.
