Elizabeth Haygood Dunn

Elizabeth Haygood Dunn, 74, entered into rest on September 23, 2015 after an extended illness. Services will be held Friday, September 25, 2015, 11:00AM at Christ Episcopal Church with the Reverends Bryan Hinson, Mark Hudgins, and Ben Wells officiating. The family will receive guests on Thursday, September 24, 2015, from 5:30-7:30PM at Harts Mortuary at the Cupola, 6324 Peake Road. Mrs. Dunn was born in Augusta, Georgia and graduated from North Augusta HS. She attended Centre College in Danville, KY and graduated with a BS from the Medical College of Georgia. She retired from the Medical Center of Central Georgia after 23 years in the medical records department. Mrs. Dunn was an active member of St. Francis Episcopal Church. She was a member of the Daughters of the King, served on the Vestry, as well as numerous other committees in the church. She was a member of the Wesleyan Woods Garden Club and served on the Cherry Blossom Think Pink Committee. She was preceded in death by her parents, Howard M. Haygood and Loraine Haygood Wagenschnur; her brother, Virgil Haygood; and her stepfather, CWO Philip Wagenschnur, USN (RET). She is survived by her husband of 48 years, J. William Dunn; son, W. Emory Dunn (Mary Charles); grandchildren, George and Thomas Dunn; sister-in-law, Nell Dunn Newman (Sam), Augusta, GA; aunt, Marion Cook; and cousin, Beth Cook Blanchard of Charleston, SC. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to St. Francis Episcopal Church, American Cancer Society or Pine Pointe Hospice of Navicent Health. The family wishes to thank all of those who showed love and support, including the doctors and staff at Central Georgia Cancer Center, Winship Cancer Institute of Emory University, the Medical Center of Central Georgia Navicent Health, and Pine Pointe Hospice.
