"Loving wife and mother, Dr. Ela J. Engineer, passed away July 2, 2016. She is survived by her husband of over 44 years, Mr. Jagdish M. Engineer, her son Dr. Nitin J. Engineer of Las Vegas, Nevada, and her brother Mr. Edwin Wardha of Melbourne, Australia. She was born on December 21, 1941 in Indore, India. Dr. Engineer earned her Ph.D. from Penn State University in 1969, after which she returned to teach as a professor at the prestigious Maharaja Sayajirav University in Vadodara, India. Shortly thereafter, she met her husband and was married in 1972. Dr. Engineer and her family eventually moved to the United States in 1975, and she established her private practice in Nutrition Diet Counseling at the Medical Center of Central Georgia in 1979. For more than 36 years, she dedicated herself to the care and well-being of her patients. She contributed to society by participating in multiple medical mission trips to Africa, Haiti, Jamaica, the Philippines, and India. Dr. Engineer was also extremely devoted to God and Forest Hills United Methodist Church, where she sang in the choir. The visitation will be at 1:00pm on Saturday, July 9, 2016, with service to follow at 2:00pm at Forest Hills United Methodist Church, 1217 Forest Hill Road Macon, GA 31210. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that all contributions in Dr. Ela J. Engineer's honor can be made to the Touching Hands Project medical mission organization at http://www.assh.org/Member-Resources/Touching-Hands-Project." Hart's Mortuary and Crematory, Cherry Street, has charge of arrangements.
