Effie Jo Crump Blizzard

Effie Jo Crump Blizzard, 86, of Gray, passed away Saturday, December 4, 2021. The family will greet friends from 11:00AM to 12:00PM Tuesday, December 7, 2021, at Hart’s, Jones County Chapel.

Born in Macon, Effie Jo was the daughter of the late Charles E. Crump and the late Clarice McCook Hamrick. She lived in Payne Mill Village until she married the late Daniel S. Blizzard in June of 1953. She worked at the Bibb Manufacturing Company in Payne Mill until her retirement and then went to work for Walmart in Macon. Her husband worked at Jackson Oldsmobile in Macon.

Effie Jo and Daniel moved to Eatonton on Lake Sinclair in 1993 and resided there until the fall of 2018, when she moved in with her son and daughter-in-law.

Effie Jo was an avid walker, skilled crocheter, and enjoyed a good mystery novel. She loved being outdoors; and while living at the lake, she enjoyed riding her jet ski and swimming. Effie Jo read her Bible daily and attended church as often as possible. She was a devoted mother who cared deeply for her family. She will be greatly missed.

Effie Jo is preceded in death by her sisters, Mary Kate Slusher and her husband Pete, and Carolyn E. Reed; niece, Paula Reed.

Effie Jo is survived by her son, Danny A. Blizzard (Dianna) of Gray; granddaughter, Brandy B. Round (Wendell) of Gray; great granddaughters, Jalyn and Jayda Round; sisters, Judith H. Franks (Ron), and Pat H. Starley (Cecil); beloved nieces and nephews and cousins, Amy Starley, Tammy F. Brooks (Tony), Tiffany F. Stewart (Tim), Rick Slusher (Virginia), Debra Dasher (Randy), Stephanie Slusher Vale, Radina Lane (Mark), Sparky Parker (Terri), Misty Rousey (Todd), and Geno Parker; and her dearest friends, Helga Cox, and Jodell and Bill Biddy.
