Effie Lucille Carter, 89, passed away Thursday, May 8, 2014. Funeral services will be at 11:00AM on Monday, May 12, 2014 in the chapel of Hart's at the Cupola, 6324 Peake Road, with the Reverend Tommy Williams officiating. Burial will be private at Riverside Cemetery. Family will greet friends one hour prior to the service at the Cupola. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to American Cancer Society, 804 Cherry Street, Macon, Georgia 31201. Mrs. Carter was a member of Bellevue Baptist Church. She was the widow of James Samuel Carter and the daughter of the late Malcolm Berry and the late Johnnie Mae Johnson Berry. Mrs. Carter was a seamstress. She was predeceased by her son, James Paul Carter; and sisters, Willie Hooper and Vollie Cobb. Survivors include her son, Ronnie Carter (Brenda) of Macon; daughter, Deborah Grimes (Chuck) of Macon; daughter-in-law, Linda Carter of Culloden, Georgia; grandchildren, James Michael Carter (Ashley) of Atlanta, Jeffrey Carter of Savannah, Chris Hendrix (Tammy) of Greenville, South Carolina, Ken Hendrix of Savannah, Ainsley Carter of Macon, Jonathon Gilbert (Jenni) of Lizella, and Alexander Gilbert (Ashley) of Macon; great grandchildren, Kaitlyn Hendrix of Atlanta, Nicole and Noah Hendrix of Savannah, Brandon, Caleb, and Audrey Gilbert all of Lizella, and Mary Gaines Carter of Atlanta; and close friend, Jane Colbert of Macon.
