Edwin Harrell Mcallister

Edwin Harrell McAllister, 70, of Macon, passed away Sunday, July 12, 2020.  A memorial service will be held Saturday, July 18, 2020 at 3:00 p.m. at chapel of Hart’s at the Cupola.  The family will greet friends following the service.  The service will be livestreamed on the Hart’s Mortuary Facebook page.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Salvation Army, 2312 Houston Ave., Macon, GA 31206 or Middle Georgia Community Food Bank, 4490 Ocmulgee E. Blvd., Macon, GA 31217.

A veteran of the United States Army, serving in the Viet Nam War, Mr. McAllister was the son of the late J.E. McAllister and Helen Harrell McAllister.  He graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in history and political science from Mercer University. He was a former member of Riverside Golf and Country Club and Reynolds Plantation and was a current member of the Brickyard Country Club.  He loved to fish, play golf, play the guitar and ride his motorcycle.  Having a great love for animals and wildlife, Mr. McAllister rescued countless wounded birds and a lizard.  Mr. McAllister was preceded in death by brothers-in-laws, Bobby Powers and Charles Powers.

Mr. McAllister is survived by his wife of 37 years, Yvonne Powers McAllister of Macon; sisters-in-law, Ann Nelson (Rick) of Butler, Tennessee and Delores Powers of Orlando, Florida; and many nieces and nephews.
