Macon-Edward L. Jones entered into everlasting life on May 5, 2012. Ed was born September 7, 1921, in Augusta, Georgia. He is preceded in death by his late wife of 63 years, Margaret Elmore Jones and four siblings. Ed and Margaret leave a legacy of family behind having had eleven children: Mike, Tommy, Jerry, Madelynn, Cindy, Chris, Theresa, Cecilia, Margaret Mary, Veronica, and Pam. He is also survived by 25 grandchildren, 33 great grandchildren, 1 great granddaughter on the way and 1 great great granddaughter. Ed served our country in WWII as an Air Force Gunnery Staff Sargent on a B-24 Liberator. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 925 for 75 years holding every office. He was the last living Knight from the original class of the Fourth Degree Assembly. Ed was a self-employed business owner, installing and maintaining industrial scales in Macon. He owned Yamaha of Macon where he sold and maintained motorcycles from 1972 to 1982. After retiring he learned how to build and restore stained-glass windows. Ed had the privilege of building and repairing windows in many churches and homes in Middle Georgia. Ed lived at Magnolia Manor Home for the Elderly for the past four years. He enjoyed baking and was well known as the Muffin Man by the residents. Ed stayed active creating stained-glass garden art, playing cards and attending Knights of Columbus meetings. Ed has been a member in all three Catholic Churches in Macon, serving in many different organizations. He was a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church especially enjoying daily mass. A rosary will be held Tuesday, May 8, 2012 at 7:00 p.m. at the church, and a funeral mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, May 9, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 4047 Chambers Road, Macon, Ga. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Holy Spirit Catholic Church Building Fund, 4047 Chambers Road, Macon, Ga. 31204. Friends may sign the online register at www.hartsmort.com. Hart's Mortuary and Crematory, Cherry Street has charge of arrangements.
