Edward Newton Batchelor, 79, of Macon, passed away on Thursday, February 12, 2026, at his home. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, February 15, 2026, at 3:00 PM at Greenwood Baptist Church. The family will greet friends for an hour prior to the service, in the same location. Burial will follow at Henderson Stripling Cemetery.
Edward Batchelor was born on July 24, 1946, in Macon, to the late Cordy Edward and Lucinda Etheridge Batchelor. As a young man, He humbly served his country in the United States Army National Guard. He earned a bachelor’s degree and pursued a career in accounting, retiring from Englehard. Edward and his beloved wife, Diane, raised three children and enjoyed building their family. Edward was especially active in their children’s, grandchildren’s, and even great-grandchildren’s lives and never missed a chance to celebrate them. He was an active member of the PTA when his children were in school. Mr. Batchelor was a proud, longstanding member of Greenwood Baptist Church and considered its congregation family as well.
Edward’s heart of service catered to children. He volunteered at Mattie Wells Elementary School, with the Boy Scouts of America, and even with the Girl Scouts when the need arose. Most of all, he enjoyed sharing his passion for reading with children. As a master gardener, he could often be found outside appreciating God’s creation. His kind heart, unwavering encouragement, and sense of humor will be immensely missed by all who had the pleasure to know him.
In addition to his parents, Edward was preceded in death by his wife, Diane Batchelor; as well as his sister, Juanita Dooley. He is survived by his children, Ellen (Keith) Vinson; Jason (Jessica) Batchelor; Eric Batchelor; his grandchildren, Kaley (Briana) Vinson; Landon Batchelor; Savanna Batchelor; Avy Batchelor; Hagan Vinson; Pressley Vinson; Julie Batchelor; Josie Batchelor; and his great-grandchildren, Carter; Everleigh; and Londyn, as well as his sister-in-law, Pam (Wade) Tallant and many beloved cousins, nieces, and nephews.
