Eddie Reed, Jr.

Eddie Reed, Jr., 70, of Macon, died Thursday, December 10, 2015. A celebration of "Pop's" life will be held on Sunday, December 13, 2015 at 2:30PM at New City Church on Cherry Street at the 567 Center. The Reverend Keith Watson will officiate. The family encourages anyone who wishes to share stories to participate in the service. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to New City Church Building Fund, 533 Cherry Street, Macon, Georgia 31201. As a young man, Mr. Reed worked for his father at New Arcade Billiards on Mulberry Street. He spent several years as an employee of Inland Container before opening his own insurance agency selling life and health insurance. He was a former docent at the Museum of Arts and Sciences and a former chapter photographer of the Macon Harley Owners Group (HOG). An avid guitar player and lover of all things historic, he was a co-founder of the Vintage Macon Facebook group and spent many hours researching and sharing Macon's history. Mr. Reed was predeceased by his son, Eddie Reed, III. Mr. Reed is survived by his daughters, Geri R. Powell (Brad) and Wendy Maddox (Larry), both of Macon; grandchildren, Kyle Reed, Brad Powell, Jr., Emmie Cate Powell, Graci Maddox and Tucker Maddox; great-grandchildren, Skyler Reed and Sam Reed; former wife, Diane Reed of Macon.
