Earnest Roger Freeman, Sr.

Mr. Earnest Roger Freeman, Sr. passed away on Sunday, December 21, 2014. Funeral services will be held at the graveside on Tuesday, December 23, 2014 at 2:30PM with Judge Robert Hughes and Kenneth Sorrell officiating. Burial will be in the Georgia Veterans' Memorial Cemetery in Milledgeville. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Georgia Sheriff's Association, PO Box 1000, Stockbridge, Georgia 30281. Mr. Freeman joined the United States Marine Corp in 1952 and served in the Korean Conflict. He was also a civil service employee and retired from Robins Air Force Base in 1991. Mr. Freeman was an Associate Magistrate in Twiggs County from 1993-2001, he also worked for the United States Marshall Service from 2001-2011. He was a member of Antioch Baptist Church. Predeceased by his wife, Mr. Freeman married Helen Margaret McLain on June 18, 1955 and were married for 47 years. Survivors include his son, Roger Freeman, Jr. (Mitzi) of Gray; daughter, Melanie Smith (Roger) of Macon; four grandchildren, Leighton Akins of Twiggs County, Michael Akins of Gray, April Smith and Aaron Smith, both of Macon; sister-in-law, Noveline Sorrell of Warner Robins; several nieces and nephews.
