It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our son and brother, Dustin Ivey Fordham on March 19, 2025, in Oahu, Hawaii. A memorial service will be held at 2:00pm, on Thursday, April 10, 2025, in the Chapel of Hart’s Mortuary on Cherry Street. Reverend Jeff Cook will officiate the service. Family will greet friends for a time of visitation one hour before the service. The graveside service will follow the memorial service with a procession to Riverside Cemetery, Macon, Georgia. In lieu of flowers, please make contributions to donor’s choice of charity in memory of Dustin Fordham.
Dustin, 41, was born in Macon, Georgia, on August 7, 1983. He attended Rosa Taylor Elementary School and Mount de Sales Academy until his graduation in 2002. After graduation, he enlisted in the United States Navy and was stationed in Norfolk, Virginia. Whether he was on base or at sea, he put his mechanical skills to use by repairing planes, jets, and helicopters.
During his four years serving his country, he was eventually transferred to Oahu, Hawaii. He lived there for ten years up until his death. While in Oahu, he attended the University of Hawaii in Honolulu and built his business from the ground up, Ivey’s Ice and Water Company, LLC. Dustin’s business furnished ice products, water, machines, and equipment to island-wide Hawaiian businesses and associates.
Dustin was a spiritual, kind-hearted, and loving soul. He was wise beyond his years and always eager to reach out and help all people, no matter who they were or where they came from. Dustin was a deep thinker and full of philosophies in life. He deeply believed and placed his faith in God and Jesus. Some of his words of wisdom are:
“Acts of kindness heal and uplift. The more the better!”
“Pray and give thanks daily.”
“Choose words that heal, and not harm.”
“Make at least one thing better everywhere you go.”
“Forgive people, guard your peace, and remember that everyone was sent to teach you something. Each person you meet holds a mirror to a lesson that your soul needs to grow.”
Dustin is survived by his parents, John I. and Karen K. Fordham of Centerville, Georgia; his daughter, Ivey E. Fordham of Oahu, Hawaii; his former wife, Melanie L. Johnson, also of Oahu; his sisters, Terri Leigh Smith of Macon, Georgia, and Jennifer Carolyn Fordham of Bremerton, Washington; and his brother, Ronald Hansen Smith, Jr. of Colbert, Georgia.
He is also lovingly remembered by his grandmother, Carolyn Kennedy Dominy of Macon, Georgia; and his aunts, Nancy Kennedy-Jones of Jasper, Georgia, Erin Kennedy Heggins of Macon, Georgia, Charlene Kent (Glenn) and Diane Glacken of Crawford County, Georgia. He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He is preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Roy L. Kennedy, Jr. of Macon, Georgia, and his paternal grandparents, Charles and Willean Fordham, also of Macon, Georgia.
