Douglas Charles Steingraber

Douglas Charles Steingraber, 84, a beloved figure of the community, passed away August 20, 2024. A Military veteran, Doug’s life was richly lived and dedicated to the service and kindness to the community. Doug volunteered with the Cherokee Habitat for Humanity building homes, he was also instrumental in growing Mended Hearts in the Metro-Atlanta hospitals starting with Wellstar Kennestone Hospital visiting 14,000 patient bedsides. Doug volunteered also with the American Heart Association Heart Walks, and local elections. Doug was a frustrated Cubs fan spending many hours at Wrigley Field and considered Wrigley hollowed grounds and was also a converted SEC football fan due to his wife’s loyalty to Alabama football. He had a wonderful sense of humor often expressed in his artwork.

Doug is survived by his wife, Sara Hester Steingraber; son, Douglas (Chuck) Steingraber; brother, Richard Steingraber, niece, Karla Steingraber; nephews, Colt Steingraber, Knox Steingraber, Fred Steingraber; and two great nieces and two great nephews.

Doug was preceded in death by his daughter, Molly Elizabeth Steingraber; father, Fredrick Ferre Steingraber; mother, Evelyn Louise Luger Steingraber; sister, Elizabeth Ann Steingraber; brother, Fredrick Steingraber.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 1:00PM on October 26, 2024, at Forest Hills Methodist Church, 1217 Forest Hill Road, Macon, GA 31210.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Forest Hills Methodist Church, Hillside Methodist Church, Woodstock, GA, or Wellstar Kennestone Hospital Volunteer Fund, Marietta, GA.
