Douglas "Wayne" Bennett, Sr.

Douglas “Wayne” Bennett, 75, of Macon, GA, passed away Friday, March 24, 2023.  A graveside service will be held Wednesday, March 29, 2023, at 2:00 p.m.    at Riverside Cemetery.  The family will greet friends prior to the service at Hart’s Mortuary on Cherry Street, from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m.

Son of the late Lloyd Elliott and Lillian Ward Bennett, Mr. Bennett retired from the Macon Police Department. He was an excellent pool player and best shade tree mechanic in the middle Georgia area.

Mr. Bennett is survived by his wife of 55 years, Carole Bennett of Macon; son, Lloyd Bennett of Macon; grandchild, Logan Bennett-Chastain (Wesley) of Jones County; great grandchild, Kaden Chastain; sister, Barbara Saffold of Macon; close friend, Ted Brewer; many nieces and nephews; and his beloved cat, Lovie aka Boo Boo.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Bennett was preceded in death by his son, Douglas "Doug" Wayne Bennett, Jr., and brother, Tommy Eugene Bennett.
