Dot Hobbs

Ms. Dorothy “Dot” Hobbs, 96, of Jones County, passed away Wednesday, July 17, 2024.  Graveside funeral services will be held Tuesday, July 30, 2024 at 10:00AM at Middle Georgia Memory Gardens, with the Reverend Steve Johnson officiating.  The family will greet friends at Hart’s Mortuary Jones County Chapel one hour prior to the service.

Dot worked at Walmart for over 21 years and retired from there at 81.  In years past, she designed beautiful store-front window displays at Woolworth’s Department Store in downtown Macon.  She was and creative and enjoyed putting together jigsaw puzzles of a thousand pieces or more. Dot had a talent for crochet and loved to share her handiwork with others.  She was known for giving out her crocheted Christmas wreath pins and she donated many of her handmade Afghan blankets to the Macon Rescue Mission.  Dot was very friendly and outgoing, and she could strike up a conversation with anyone she met. Loving and caring by nature, she filled the role of caregiver for ailing loved ones any time the need arose.  Dot was a faithful Christian who lived out her faith and loved to tell people what God had done for her that day.  More than anything else, she loved just spending time with her family.

Dot is survived by her daughter, Mary Brown (David) of Fayetteville, Georgia; grandsons, Josh Rigsby of Fayetteville, Triston Brown of Fayetteville; granddaughter, Morgan Flynn (Jeremy) of Concord, Georgia; great-granddaughter, Wynter Flynn of Concord; many nieces and nephews; her sweet friend and neighbor, Alice Parker; and her beloved dog, Sweetie.

In addition to her parents, Nuborn and Syble Moore, Dot was preceded in death by her sister, Marion Kelly; and her brothers, Bill Moore and Julian Moore.
