Dorothy Norris Truesdel

November 18, 1924 — February 17, 2012

Atlanta,GA- Dorothy Norris Truesdel died on February 16, 2012 at Brighton Gardens of Buckhead in Atlanta, Georgia, where she had resided to be near her daughter and grandson since May 2009. She was lovingly cared for by Hospice in her final days and departed this world in the company of family and friends, with her dog Roxy lying beside her. Dot was born in Cochran, Georgia and lived in Macon 67 years. She was married to Julius Edward Truesdel until his death in 1996. Dot managed the family's casualty and property insurance business, last known as Kaplan-Truesdel Insurance Agency, which her husband began in 1948. After her retirement, Dot became an avid bridge player, caretaker for older family members, and warm and loving friend to her neighbors, church community and extended family. Dot is survived by her daughter, Beth Truesdel Baer and Carl DeVaughn, her grandson and his wife, Holly and Bryan Baer, great-grandchildren, Ellison and Brooks Baer and a number of nieces and nephews. The funeral will be conducted by Dr. James (Jim) Dant and the Reverend Ruth DuCharme at Highland Hills Baptist Church, 1370 Briarcliff Road, Macon, GA 31211 at 10:30 a.m. on February 22, with burial services to follow at Riverside Cemetery led by Dr. James Bruner. The family will greet friends at the church beginning at 9:30 am. In lieu of flowers, it was Dot's wish that donations be made to Highland Hills Baptist Church or Second Chance Animal Rescue and Adoptions, P.O.
