Dorothy "Dot" Shepard

Dorothy "Dot" Hudson Shepard, age 97 of Macon, passed away peacefully on August 3, 2017. She was born on October 28, 1919 to the late Robert Berner Hudson and Bertha Stokes Hudson. Dorothy was married 69 years to Robert Berner "Bobbie" Shepard, and raised 3 dear children. Dorothy faithfully cared for family and friends through delicious cooking/baking, she was an excellent seamstress and loved to travel. Dorothy was one of the longest living members of Liberty United Methodist Church. A woman of faith and the heart of the Shepard family, Dorothy shaped their spirituality by her tireless Christian example, through the United Methodist Women's Circle, B.F. Vinson Sunday School and was honored with "The Quiet Disciple Award". Dorothy was predeceased by her husband, her parents, brother, Robert B. Hudson Jr, two nephews and daughter-in-law, Yalinda Shepard. Dorothy is survived by her children, Robert B Shepard III (Patty) of Huntsville AL; Neva Shepard Young (Tate) of Houston, TX and Bruce Shepard (Lisa) of Macon. Grandchildren, Natalie Shepard Bagwell (Chip), and Robert B Shepard IV (Sherry) of Huntsville AL, Maggie Shepard of Atlanta, GA and Victoria Young of Houston, TX. Great-grandchildren, Will, Ben and Kate Bagwell of Huntsville, AL. She also leaves behind numerous loving relatives and close friends. The family wishes to thank all of those who helped care for Dorothy including Morningside Assisted Living and staff, where she lived for the past 13 years. Thank you to Relinda Smith for her loving care throughout the years and Geri Roberts for her excellent care in Dorothy's last days. The family may be contacted at the residence of Bruce Shepard and will receive friends Sunday, August 6th 2017 at 6:00 - 8:00pm at Hart's Mortuary at the Cupola, 6324 Peake Road, Macon, GA, 31210. Graveside services will be held on Monday, August 7th at 1:00pm at Glen Haven Memorial Gardens, 7070 Houston Road, Macon, GA, 31216. The Reverend Wayne Anthony will officiate.
