Dorothy Wynn James, Carlyle Place, Macon, Georgia, passed away peacefully Sunday evening, January 26, 2014 in the Medical Center of Central Georgia. She was born in 1921 in Americus, Georgia, daughter of the late Alma and Fitzhugh Wynn. Dorothy was the wife for sixty years of the late Cohen Dausey James. Dorothy was a lifelong member of Mulberry Street United Methodist Church where she recently served on the Board. She is remembered by the members of her beloved Joy Sunday school class, the Paula Motes Circle of Methodist Women, Young at Heart, The Macon Chapter of Retired Business Professional Women, her many friends at Carlyle Place and all her monthly lunch ladies. She spent over forty years working in the Bibb County school system and later greeted many friends and customers with a smile as they entered Wal-Mart on Zebulon Road. One of her greatest joys was spending time with her whole family every year at Ormond Beach, Florida, where her footprints will remain in the sand forever. She always enjoyed sitting on the beach for hours and taking long walks with her grandchildren. Dorothy is survived by her three children and their spouses, Sharyn and Steve Pennington of Bonita Springs , Florida, Scott and Debbie James of Matthews, North Carolina and Ricky and Vicky James of Musella, Georgia, as well as nine grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held 4:00-6:00 pm Thursday at Hart's Mortuary, Cherry Street. Memorial service will be at Mulberry Street United Methodist Church at 11:00AM on Friday, January 31, 2014 with graveside service to follow at Riverside Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Mrs. James' name may be made to Mulberry Street United Methodist Church, 719 Mulberry Street, Macon, Georgia 31201. Register online at www.hartsmort.com.
