Dorothy "Dot" Parks Colhard Macon- Dorothy Parks Colhard, 82, of Macon, Georgia, died quietly in her sleep on September 20, 2011. She was born September 30, 1928 in Marion, North Carolina to the late Beatrice and Ralph W. Parks. Dot grew up in Raleigh, North Carolina and Birmingham, Alabama, but graduated from Elkin High School in Elkin, North Carolina, where she met her future husband, Charles M. Colhard. After attending Women's College of the University of North Carolina, she married Charlie, and worked as a receptionist for a doctor in Elizabethton, Tennessee. Once their first child was born she loved being mother to her three children and homemaker for her family in Westwood, New Jersey and Macon, Georgia. She enjoyed traveling, sewing, gardening, floral arranging, painting and drawing, playing bridge and being active at Mulberry Street United Methodist Church. Dot was predeceased by her husband Charles and her son Chuck. She is survived by her children, Chris Colhard, of Atlanta, and Connie Herringdine, of Bogart, and five grandchildren, James Colhard, John Colhard, Chandler Colhard, Helen Herringdine, and Jay Herringdine. A memorial service will be held Friday, September 23, 2011 at noon at Mulberry St. United Methodist Church with a reception afterwards at the church. Burial will be on Saturday, September 24, 2011 at 4 pm in Hollywood Cemetery in Elkin, North Carolina. Register online at www.hartsmort.com.
