Dorothy Lillian Cofer

Gracewood, GA- Dorothy Lillian Cofer, 81, of Gracewood, Georgia died Monday, January 9, 2012. Services will be held on Saturday, January 14, 2012 at 2:00PM in the Chapel of Hart's Mortuary, 765 Cherry Street, with Rabbi Greg Hershberg officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery. The family will greet friends at the funeral home on Saturday from 1:00PM until 2:00PM. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to East Central Regional Hospital, 3405 Mike Padgett Highway, 100 Myrtle Boulevard, Gracewood, Georgia 30812. Miss Cofer was born on June 22, 1930 in Perry, Georgia and was the daughter of the late Charles Thomas Cofer, Sr. and the late Ruby Jessica Douglas Cofer. She was predeceased by her siblings, Charles Thomas Cofer, Jr., Edna Mae Cofer Wright and Douglas Lamar Cofer. She lived with her beloved grandmother, Mary Wright "Nellie" Douglas until 1942 at which time she moved to Gracewood Hospital. Dorothy was one of the first residents at Gracewood and it became her beloved home for the rest of her life. Dorothy is survived by her twin sister, Doris C. Childers of Dublin, Georgia and her sister, Avelyn Marie Cofer Ferrell (Lennie) of Tampa, Florida; several nieces and nephews and several great-nieces and great-nephews.
