Dorothy Bagwell

Macon- Dorothy Sawyer Bagwell, 90, of 1187 Lamont Street, passed away on Monday, January 5, 2009. Graveside services will be held on Thursday, January 8, 2009, at 1:00PM at Macon Memorial Park. The Reverend Max Patterson will officiate. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Tattnall Square Baptist Church, 4925 Zebulon Road, Macon, GA 31210. Mrs. Bagwell was born in Macon and graduated from Mercer University. She was a charter member of the Phi Mu Sorority at Mercer, Cardinal Key Honor Club, and played on the basketball team. She taught school for thirty-six years and was a member of the Bibb Retired Teachers' Association. She was a member of Tattnall Square Baptist Church and was in the Ruth Class. Mrs. Bagwell was the daughter of the late John Henry Sawyer and Hattie Wilcoxon Sawyer and the widow of William H. Bagwell, Sr. Mrs. Bagwell is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, William H. Bagwell, Jr. and Sandy Bagwell of Ball Ground, GA; brother, Harold Sawyer of Lizella, GA; four granddaughters and two great-granddaughters. The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to Priscilla Willis, the lady caregivers and Evercare Hospice for the care they provided Mrs. Bagwell.
