Dorothea (Dottie) Brown Whitaker, 76, lifelong resident of Macon, Georgia, passed away at her home with her children by her side on December 16, 2013 following a lengthy chronic illness. Dottie was the daughter of Annie P. and Dalton T. Brown. She graduated from Miller High School in 1955 and remained friends with many of her classmates, often attending the group's monthly luncheons. Dottie retired from SunTrust Bank, Inc. after 35 years. She was married to John Casper Whitaker who preceded her in death. She was also predeceased by her stepdaughter, Pam Durry. Dottie is mourned and will be missed by her daughter, Julie Hickman of Macon; son, David Williamson (Linda) of Macon; 5 grandchildren, Phyliss Hickman of Birmingham, Alabama, Lauren Curnutt (Bobby) of Birmingham, Patrick Hickman in the United States Navy, April Taylor (Wesley) of Rossville, Georgia, and Stacey Taylor of Rossville; 1 great granddaughter, Jorja Grace Cauthorn of Rossville; brother, George T. Brown of Atlanta; 3 step children, Dennis Whitaker (Janice), Kenneth Whitaker, and Joey Whitaker; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, step grandchildren, step great grandchildren, and friends. Spending time with her family and friends and being of help and service to others were her greatest passions. Her favorite charitable organizations were Heartland Hospice, United in Pink, and Disabled Veterans of America. There will not be a service but the family will meet with friends at the Willow Creek Clubhouse from 2:00-4:00PM on Monday, December 23, 2013. The world has lost an angel.
