Doris Bracken Mceachern

Doris Bracken McEachern, 88, died August 9, 2017 in Dublin, Georgia surrounded by her loved ones. She was born January 10, 1929 in Vidalia, Georgia to parents James Wesley Bracken and Manila Mosely Bracken. Her brother James Wesley Bracken, Jr. and sister-in-law Margaret Costner preceded her in death. Doris was a life long resident of the Macon, Ga area, and was married for 57 years to her beloved husband Willard, who preceded her in death. She is survived by her children Willard McEachern, Jr. (Patricia) of Irwinton, Ga, Elaine McEachern of Atlanta, Ga, Louisa Bentley (James) of Dublin, Ga, and grandchildren Everett Camp (Gretchen), Layn Alderson (James), and Wesley Camp. Doris attended Whittle School, and graduated from Miller High School and Mercer University in Macon. While at Mercer she was a member of Phi Mu, and was president in her senior year. She was a member of Christ Episcopal Church where she taught Sunday school, and where she worked with the Meals on Wheels program. Doris was a lifetime member of the YWCA, and worked with the Board of Directors. She was a former member of the Idle Hour Ladies Golf Association, and a member of the Daughter's of the American Revolution. Doris enjoyed gardening, and cherished her friends in the Hillandale Garden Club. Her long time caregivers Suzanne Mosely, Barbara Moore, and Joanna Jackson were very dear and special to her. A funeral service will be held Friday, August 18, 2017, at 10:00 AM, at Christ Episcopal Church, with the Reverend Cynthia Knapp officiating. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery.
