Donovan DeWitt Kinnett, Jr. of Charleston, South Carolina, died Thursday, April 7, 2016. Burial will take place on Sunday, April 10, 2016, at 2:00 PM at Oaklawn Cemetery, Fort Valley, Georgia, followed by a memorial service at 2:30 PM at Fort Valley United Methodist Church, 301 West Church Street, Fort Valley, Georgia with James Hamlin officiating, and a reception immediately following in the Fellowship Hall of the church. Don was born on June 12, 1926, in Macon, Georgia to the late Donovan DeWitt Kinnett, Sr. and the late Isabel Hackett Kinnett. He graduated from Lanier High School in Macon and received a degree in Industrial Engineering from Georgia Institute of Technology. After graduation in 1948, he joined Blue Bird Body Company in Fort Valley, Georgia where he remained employed for 44 years until his retirement in 1992 as Corporate Vice President of Production. He was an active member and former board member of Fort Valley United Methodist Church, past President of the Fort Valley Kiwanis Club, member of the Fort Valley Library Board of Trustees, past President of the Peach County Chamber of Commerce, a member of the Kappa Alpha Order, and a member of the Georgia Forestry Association and the Forest Landowners Association. A devoted husband, father, and grandfather, he is survived by his wife of 62 years, Ann Hodges Kinnett, his daughter Beth Renken (Kenny) of Charleston, South Carolina, his son Van Kinnett (Carla) of Isle of Palms, South Carolina, his four grandchildren Robby Renken (Julia), Holly Rodelsperger (Robert) and Christine Kinnett of Charleston, South Carolina and Caroline Kinnett of Nashville, Tennessee, his four great-grandchildren Allie, Emma, and Peter Rodelsperger and Robert Renken IV, all of Charleston, South Carolina, his Sister, Isabel Kinnett Davis, his brother-in-law Cecil Hodges (Shirley), and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins who were all special to him.
