Donald Richard Weitz

Donald Richard Weitz, 87, of Macon, passed away on Saturday, January 29, 2022.  A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, February 4, 2022, at Lutheran Church Of The Redeemer on Pierce Avenue in Macon, with the Reverend Andrew Lewis officiating.

Donald proudly served his country for 30 years in the United States Marine Corps and earned the title Sergeant Major.  He received many medals and badges during his service.  Donald was a faithful member of Lutheran Church of the Redeemer and was very active in their food pantry.  He was a selfless man and would help anyone in need.   He enjoyed woodworking, reading, watching sports, and loved to help with little league.  More than anything he loved spending time with his grandchildren.

Donald is survived by his daughter, LeAnna Moreno (Mike); son, Richard Weitz (Charlotte); sisters, Judy Horne (David), and Susie Smalley (Bob); grandchildren: Jon, Jacob, Krystal, Michael, Billy, and Sarah; great-grandchildren: Jayden, Jaylen, Grace, Sebastain, John, and Lily; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Jesse May Ketcham Weitz; daughter Christina Richardson; grandson, Justin Weitz; parents, Christian Paul and Beatrice Beldon Weitz; and sisters, Jane Young and Mary Bollenbacher.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Donald’s honor to the food pantry at Lutheran Church Of The Redeemer, or to the donor’s local food bank.
