Donald Ray Spires

Macon - Donald Ray Spires, 62, of 837 Wimbish Road, passed away at his home Monday, August 8, 2011. Services will be held on Friday, August 12, 2011, at 1:00PM at Hart's Mortuary on Cherry Street. Interment will follow at Macon Memorial Park. The family will greet friends on Thursday from 6:00PM until 8:00PM at Hart's. Mr. Spires was a loving husband, father and grandfather, and a loyal friend. He was a former law enforcement officer and was the owner and operator of several local service stations, including Don's '76 Station on Forsyth Road. He was a lover of the outdoors and took a special interest in birds and fishing. Mr. Spires is survived by his wife, Traci Spires; son Dallas Spires, his wife Mary, and their son DJ; son Kris Vonderheide; brothers, Sammy Spires, Ronnie Spires and his wife Ann; sister Elizabeth McCarty and her husband Troy; sister-in-law Janice Spires; brother-in-law Doug Booth; many nieces and nephews; and half-brother Horace Spires.
