Dianne Turner Carter, 75, died June 3, 2024. She was born in Pelham, Georgia on September 30, 1948, the daughter of Sara and L.C. Turner.
Dianne was passionate about reading (especially Chaucer and Shakespeare), cats, crossword puzzles, Britain, gardening, kindness, and her family and friends. She received both her BA and M.Ed. from Mercer University. Dianne retired from Mercer after having taught English and having worked in an administrative role with the Learning Skills Center. Dianne later enjoyed working with children in the nursery at St. Joseph Church.
Dianne was preceded in death by her husband, Maj. (USAF retired) James H. Carter, Jr; her parents; and her sister, Jan Lowery. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Stacey and Mario Herrera; her beloved grandchildren, Liliana and Nicolás; step-daughter, Suzanne Carter (Bill); and many other extended family members and friends.
A rosary service will be held at Hart’s Mortuary Cherry Street Chapel, Thursday, June 6, 2024, at 6:00PM and a Funeral Mass at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church on June 7, 2024 at 11:00 AM. A graveside service at Pelham City Cemetery in Pelham, Georgia, will be held Saturday, June 8, 2024 at 11:00 a.m.
