Macon- Denise Pitts Bickford, 50, passed away Friday, June 10, 2011 after a courageous battle with breast cancer. Funeral services will be held Monday, June 13, 2011, at 11AM, in the chapel of Hart's Mortuary on Cherry Street. Burial will follow in Glen Haven Memorial Gardens. Chaplain Jay Jones will officiate. Visitation will be held Sunday, June 12, 2011, from 6 until 8PM, at Hart's Mortuary on Cherry Street. Mrs. Bickford is survived by her husband Alan Bickford of Macon; a brother Drexel Pitts (Toni) of Lizella; a niece Lori Sanders (James) of Springfield, VA; a nephew Brian Pitts of Athens, GA; a great nephew Seth Sanders of Springfield, VA; Aunts Louise Selph of Cochran, Jeanette Mullis (Gilbert) of Beach Island, SC, Faye Purcell (Jim) of North Augusta, SC, Jo Cobb (Leon) of Ft. Valley; an Uncle Edd Pitts of Eastman; and a large group of breast cancer survivors and supporters. Mrs. Bickford was former president of the Central Georgia Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure. She was a volunteer for United in Pink (Bunko for Breast Cancer) and the Ronald McDonald House, a lifetime member of The Friends of the Library, and an active member of Bosom Buddies. She was proud to call herself a Pink Flamingo and she was a Pink Warrior! In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Susan G. Komen for the Cure, 277 MLK Jr. Blvd, Suite 203, Macon, GA 31201; the United In Pink(Bunko for Breast Cancer) 2550A Northside Crossing, Macon, GA 31210; or the AC Pups/Central GA Cares, 520 Professional Dr. Suite 2, Macon, GA 31201. Hart's Mortuary and Crematory on Cherry Street has charge of the arrangements.
