Debra D. Brown

Debra D. Brown, 68, of Macon, Georgia passed away on Saturday, March 23, 2024.  A memorial service will be held at Hart’s Mortuary at the Cupola at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 28, 2024. The family will greet friends following the service.

Debbie was born on a bright sunny day in Olla, Louisiana, on August 28, 1955. She was met with open, loving arms by her mother, Thelma Dean Brownell Brown, her father, Rowland Brown, and her sister, Sharon Brown.

She graduated from high school and Louisiana State University with honors. She followed her father’s footsteps and became an accountant for Standard Oil of California. She moved to San Francisco to join the company and her parents. She was married briefly, but her husband died. She never remarried.

When her mother and father retired and moved to Macon, she followed within five years.

Four years ago she was diagnosed with endometrial cancer, but then ovarian cancer ensued. She had six months of chemotherapy, but this did not work. She then took Keytruda, but this only killed her adrenal system.  She later was diagnosed with leukemia. She was having blood drawn twice a day, shots in the abdomen, many pills to take, and in and out of the hospital. Her last admission to the hospital, she kept getting better the first week, but then things changed. Her life ended on March 23, 2024, after a long and valiant struggle. She is no longer in pain and has walked on to a much better life. She will be met by her father, Rowland Brown, and brother-in-law, Mike Twibell, whom she greatly loved and missed. She left a great hole in her mother’s and sister’s hearts, but they know they will see her again someday in a much better place.

She is survived by her mother, Thelma Dean Brownell Brown, and her sister, Sharon Brown Twibell.
