David Thomas Mitchell

David Thomas Mitchell, 77, of Juliette, Georgia, passed away on Monday, August 18, 2025. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, August 21, 2025, at Hart’s Mortuary, Jones County Chapel. The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service.

Mr. Mitchell was born in Macon, Georgia on March 13, 1948, to the late Thomas Jefferson Mitchell and Hazel Fields Mitchell. He proudly served his country in the United States Marines and was a member of Marine Corps League Middle Georgia Detachment 970. He worked as a special agent with the Georgia Bureau of Investigation for 34 years and retired in 2002.

After retirement, Mr. Mitchell enjoyed working on his land, operating his tractor, and building things for his grandchildren. Above all, he loved spending time with his wife and family.

Mr. Mitchell is survived by his loving wife, Becky Mitchell; daughters: Katie Bird, Mandy O’Connor (Brian), and Chris Mitchell; sister, Trudy Bowden; grandchildren: Abeni Bird, Jefferson Bird, Sonja Bird, Jaden Bird, Will Bird, Tom O’Connor, Keira O’Connor, Anna Mitchell, and Shelby Mitchell.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Mitchell was preceded in death by his son-in-law, Danny Bird.
