David Coe Shoemaker, 69, of Eatonton, Georgia, passed away Saturday, December 21, 2024. A Celebration of life will be held at a later date.
Son of Thomas Coe Shoemaker and the late Korte Cambern Shoemaker, David was born on September 8, 1955, in Spokane, Washington. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War. After his military service, he committed himself to a fulfilling career working on the Flight Line at Robins Air Force Base until retirement.
David's love for fishing and boating on Lake Sinclair was well-known, as was his affection for his faithful dog Bosco, who was his constant companion on neighborhood rides in his golf cart. His passion for the outdoors was matched only by his love for his ’57 Chevrolet.
More than anything, David enjoyed spending time with his friends and family. He never met a stranger and will be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
David is survived by his loving wife, Mary Alice Shoemaker; former wife, (Wanda) mother of son, David Coe Shoemaker, Jr and daughter, Rebecca Ross (Elijah); father, Thomas Coe Shoemaker; brother, Robert Shoemaker (Laura); granddaughters, Brittney Ross and Sara Ross; nephews, Trevor Shoemaker, Colin Shoemaker; stepdaughter, Anna Francis (Matt); step grandchildren: Skyler, Kayla, and Maddie; aunt, Katya Spicuzza; niece, Melaine McGuire; and nephew, Mark McGuire.
In addition to his mother, David was preceded in death by his sister, Robin McGuire; and uncle, James M. Shoemaker, Jr.
