David Harold Becker

David Harold Becker, 92, passed away Tuesday, October 18, 2016. Graveside services will be at 2:00PM on Thursday, October 20, 2016 at William Wolfe Cemetery in Rose Hill with Rabbi Larry Schlesinger officiating. Family will greet friends at 3:00PM in the Grand Ballroom of Carlyle Place following the service. Mr. Becker was a member of Temple Beth Israel where he served as president of the Jewish Federation of Macon and Middle Georgia. Born and raised in Macon, he graduated from Lanier High School. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in World War II where he fought in the Battle of the Bulge. Following the war, he graduated from Columbia University with a degree in Economics. Mr. Becker was president of Union Furniture. He was a member of Idle Hour Country Club where he was an avid golfer. He was predeceased by his wife, Sara "Nisi" Becker; parents, Simon Lewis and Ida Lavine Becker; and his brother, Marvin J. "Buddy" Becker. Mr. Becker is survived by his son, Michael E. Day of Athens; daughter, Ida Becker Centner (John A.) of Atlanta; 3 grandchildren: John D. Centner, Michael Centner, and Sara Centner, all of Atlanta; and nieces and nephews, Marjorie Ruth Becker, Joan Elizabeth Becker, and Simon Lewis Becker. Register online at www.hartsmort.com.
