Danny Richard Smith, 73, of Macon, Georgia, passed away on Sunday, August 10, 2025. A visitation will be held from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Wednesday, August 13, 2025, at Hart’s at the Cupola. Funeral services will also be held at Hart’s on Thursday, August 14, 2025, at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow the service at Glen Haven Memorial Gardens.
Son of the late James and Kathryn Smith, Danny was born in Macon on January 4, 1952. As a teenager he was a member of The Majestics, a local garage band that toured the Southeast in the late 1960s. He later got his BBA in Accounting from the University of Miami. He worked for Carrier Air Conditioning Company in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, and eventually moved back to Macon where he worked for Mingledorff’s Inc. as a Territory Manager and later as the Field Chief Financial Officer. He retired from Mingledorff’s in 2018 after 34 years of service. After retirement he was an avid golfer and could be regularly found on the greens, enjoying the game he loved. He was also a dedicated sports fan, especially for his grandsons. He took great pleasure in watching them play baseball and football and would often “coach” them on the sidelines.
Danny was a frequent patron of the Zebulon Road Waffle House. He enjoyed sharing stories with his friends over coffee or enjoying his favorite meal. Above all, he loved his role as “Paw Paw”, and his five grandsons were the light of his life. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him. Danny’s life was a testament of loyalty, kindness, and enjoying the little things that make each day special.
Danny is survived by his wife, Vickie Smith of Macon; sons, Brian Smith (Leah) of Forsyth and Dylan George (Katelyn) of Macon; grandchildren: Camden Smith, Carson Smith, Corbin Smith, Tucker George, and Carter George; sister, Gayle Smith of St. Augustine, Florida; and beloved yorkie, Ellie Mae.
In addition to his parents, Danny was preceded in death by his brother, Jimmy Durand Smith.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Janaye Colbert with Gentiva Hospice for her special care.
