Danny Burton Rogers, 75, of Marietta, Georgia, passed away on March 20, 2026. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am, Wednesday, April 1, 2026, at Hart’s at the Cupola with the Reverend Bob Price officiating. The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service. Burial will be private at Macon Memorial Park.
Danny was born in Macon, Georgia on August 31, 1950, to Ruth Hammock Campbell and Robert Burton Rogers. He was a graduate of Lanier High School, class of ‘69. After his graduation from the University of Georgia in 1974, he married his high school sweetheart, Janet Diana Sweat on September 7th, at First Baptist Church in Macon.
Upon his graduation from college, Danny established himself as a well-respected and highly sought after freight broker. Throughout his career, which would span nearly 50 years, Danny earned numerous accolades and awards in the industry. His tireless energy and tenacity placed him in the highest regard of his colleagues and clients.
Danny never knew a stranger, and he surely knew how to make you laugh! His friends and family fondly recall his passion for helping others. Danny never waited for someone to ask for help. Whenever he saw a need, he made sure it was met. Danny worked tirelessly in recent years to bring together friends from Lanier and Miller High Schools, as well as the Sedarmoc fraternity, in reunions and social gatherings.
Danny and Janet loved hosting events in their home for family and friends. Their annual Christmas open house was one that everyone looked forward to each year - which not only included great food, atmosphere, and fellowship - but also live music, many times in the form of an Elvis tribute singer!
You would be hard pressed to find a bigger fan of the Georgia Bulldogs than Danny! He loved tailgating in Athens and cheering on the DAWGS wherever and whenever they played! He enjoyed decades of Georgia Florida games in Jacksonville with his family. No distance was too far to travel to see his beloved Bulldogs play. From the Orange Bowl in Miami to the Rose Bowl in Pasadena and most assuredly Between the Hedges, Danny was there.
Without a doubt, Danny’s greatest joy in life was his family. His lifetime romance with Janet was a love story that began in their teenage years. When his daughter Brittany was born, she was the light of his life. His most recent role as “Papa” to his three grandchildren might have been the one he treasured the most. You could literally see the love that radiated from his face when they were with him.
Danny is survived by his bride of 51 years, Janet Rogers of Marietta; his daughter Brittany Elizabeth Rogers (John Adley) of Marietta; his grandchildren: Delaney Marie Adley, Presley Rose Adley, and Colton Thomas Adley - all of Marietta; sisters, Elizabeth Price (Bob), Catherine Forehand (Dale), Patsy Thigpen (Bobby), Allison Heayberd (Tick), and Carol Sawyer (Jeff); aunt, Joyce Hammock Lord (Bobby), sister-in-law, Julie Ellis, brother-in-law, John Sweat (Jennifer), along with several nieces/nephews and great nieces/great nephews.
In addition to his parents, Danny was preceded in death by his grandparents, Allene Hammock Stovall and Samuel Thomas Hammock; mother and father-in-law, Joyce and Bill Sweat; and brother-in-law, Duane Ellis.
