Daniel Vance "Danny" Perkins

Daniel Perkins passed away on March 19, 2017. Services will be held on Monday, March 27, 2017 at 11:00AM at Hart's Mortuary, Jones County Chapel, 307 Pecan Lane, Gray, GA 31032. The Reverend Steven Byrd will be officiating with a visitation one hour prior to the service. Burial will be held at Georgia Veterans Memorial Cemetery at 1:00PM. Daniel was predeceased by his parents, Charlie and Wilma Perkins and brother, Richard Wright Perkins. He was a 1966 graduate of Lanier High School. He worked as a Yardmaster with Norfolk Southern until he retired in 2000. Daniel was a member of the Napier Avenue Church of God. During the Vietnam War, he was a Radarman on the U.S.S. Enterprise while serving in the United States Navy. Daniel had many hobbies that included being a member of the Dixie Aeromasters Flying Club in Jones County and the Newton County R.C. Flyers in Covington, GA. He enjoyed being outdoors fishing on his dock or boating. Hunting was his passion in his younger years. Daniel is survived by his wife of forty-seven years, Deborah Johnson Perkins of Eatonton, GA; daughters, Christie Michelle Barfield (Chris) of Macon, GA; Shawn Hall (Keith Lawson) of Macon, GA; grandchildren, Christopher and Brandon Barfield, Caleb Hall (Sara) and Hunter Hall; great grandchildren, Mason Hall; sisters, Jane Fair of Byron, Karey Byrd of Macon, and Shirley Teters of Macon; many nieces and nephews, and his baby, Tammie the family pet.
