Daniel Goodman Brundige

May 29, 1930 — October 8, 2018

Daniel G. Brundige passed away October 8, 2018. Funeral services will be held Friday, October 12, 2018 at 11am in the Chapel at First Presbyterian Church, 682 Mulberry Street, Macon, GA, 31201. The Reverend Chip Miller will officiate. A private interment will be held prior to the service. The family will greet guests prior to and after the service.

Dan was born in Chillicothe, Ohio. He served in the Army during the Korean War and was stationed in Alaska. He earned a degree in Agricultural Economics from Purdue University in Lafayette, Indiana where he was a member of the Phi Delta Theta Order of Fraternities. After graduation, he accepted a position with Ralston Purina and moved to Nashville, TN where he met and married Martha Buchman. They subsequently lived in Tampa, FL and Gainesville, GA before Dan went to work for Mead Paperboard Products and moved his young family to Lynchburg, VA. Eventually, Dan transferred with Mead to Macon where he resided until he retired. In 2010, he relocated to Stone Mountain, GA to be closer to his daughters.

Dan loved God, his family and his friends and he never met a stranger. He was blessed with the gift of conversing with anyone and had a great sense of humor and a positive outlook on life. He was an avid football fan and would watch literally any game, but especially enjoyed those involving the Purdue Boilermakers and Georgia Bulldogs. He traveled extensively throughout the United States and visited all 50 states. He particularly enjoyed the Maggie Valley, NC area where he spent many summers during his senior years. Dan was a generous person – he gave much of his time, his friendship, his resources, and his service to others. He was active in the Macon Kiwanis Club for 20 years, the Salvation Army, Bibb County United Way, Meals on Wheels, the Mercer Bearbackers Club, and the Macon Touchdown Club. He served as a deacon in the Presbyterian churches in each of the cities in which he resided, and at First Presbyterian Church in Macon also served as a Sunday school teacher, Clerk of Session, Elder, and Chairman of the Board of Deacons. He dearly loved the many families he knew through the First Presbyterian Church, First Presbyterian Day School, Wesleyan Woods neighborhood, and civic organizations. He spent much of his time in retirement volunteering in the Macon community.

Dan is preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Thelma Brundige, and his wife Martha Buchman Brundige. He is survived by his children Daniel Buchman Brundige, Martha Jane Brundige, and Sara Elizabeth Brundige and his grandchildren Daniel Benton Brundige, Mary Kathryn Brundige, Elizabeth Jane Brundige, and Sara Ekaterina Brundige, and his sister and brother-in-law Martha and John Gaston.
