Daniel Shelton Blizzard

Eatonton, GA - Daniel Shelton Blizzard, age 84, passed away on Sunday, January 14, 2018, after a brief illness. A visitation will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday January 17, at Friendship Baptist Church, with a memorial service immediately following at 12:00 PM. The family will attend a private burial after the service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Friendship Baptist Church Building Fund or the Merry Hearts Quilting Club at the church located at 635 Twin Bridges Rd SW, Eatonton, GA 31024. Daniel, "Great Pa" as he was known by his family, was born in Telfair County Georgia to the late Daniel Lee and Minnie Lee Blizzard. Daniel retired from Jackson Oldsmobile located in Macon, GA after 38 years of dedicated service. He was well known in Middle Georgia as a skilled auto mechanic. He married the love of his life June of 1953. They resided in Macon until 1993 when they moved to Lake Sinclair in Eatonton where they have lived for 24 years. Daniel's favorite hobby was fishing ~ though he was known to have a great love for fast cars and boats. Effie Jo and Daniel were life-time members of the Macon Motor Boat Club, Friendship Baptist Church at Lake Sinclair, and the Joy 1 Sunday School class. Daniel is predeceased by his sister, Mattie Kate Wrye Blizzard. He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Effie Jo Crump Blizzard of Eatonton, Georgia; his son, Danny A. Blizzard of Gray, his daughter-in-law Dianna S. Blizzard, grand-daughter Brandy B. Round and her husband Wendell; great-granddaughters Jalyn and Jayda Round of Gray, Georgia. He is also survived by his siblings W. A Blizzard of Dublin, GA, Robert Blizzard of McCrae, GA, Dewey Blizzard of Milan, GA, Paul Blizzard of Lake Seminole, GA, and Clara Bachelor of Ocilla, GA and many nieces and nephews.
