Dan Lenoir Neighbors, Sr.

Dan LeNoir Neighbors passed away on January 11, 2014, in Macon, Georgia. A celebration of his life will be held at Hart's Mortuary at the Cupola, 6324 Peake Road, on Saturday, January 18, 2014, at 12:00 noon. The family will greet friends at a reception immediately following the service. Born in Macon on January 30, 1925, Dan was the son of Joseph Britton Neighbors, Sr. and Jeanne Jones Neighbors. He graduated from Lanier High School, where he was an Eagle Scout and captain of the ROTC, and Georgia Tech, where he was a member of Kappa Alpha Order. Dan served his country during World War II with the United States Army Air Corps. He enjoyed a 40-year business career with Armstrong Cork Company, Kerr Packaging, and other business ventures, which necessitated establishing residences in Washington D.C., Athens Georgia, Memphis Tennessee, and Charlotte, North Carolina. While living in Athens, Dan served as president of the Exchange Club and the Jaycees and was a director of the Athens Chamber of Commerce. After retiring to Macon, he led the Lokchapee Homeowners Association as its president. In addition to his pare nts, Dan was preceded in death by his wife, Lucile Dismuke Neighbors, sisters Jean Neighbors and Anne Neighbors Williams, and brother Joseph Britton "Bunny" Neighbors, Jr. Survivors include son Dan (Marti) Neighbors Jr. of Birmingham Alabama, daughter Jean (Mike) Crowder of Columbus, Mississippi, close friend Donna Glawson of Macon, four grandchildren, and two great grandchildren.
