Dallis Johnson "Dilly" Jones died on Friday, June 24, 2016. A memorial service will be held at 11:00AM Monday, June 27, 2016 at the First Presbyterian Church in Macon, with the Reverends Chip Miller and John Kinser officiating. Burial will be private. A visitation will be held at the Cupola at Hart's, 6324 Peake Road, on Sunday, June 26, 2016 from 4:00pm to 6:00pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts can be made to the charity of your choice, or to the First Presbyterian Church, 682 Mulberry Street, Macon, Georgia 31201, or to the First Presbyterian Day School, 5671 Calvin Drive, Macon, Georgia 31210. Dallis was born in LaGrange, Georgia on December 13, 1932. She was the daughter of Eleanor Dallis Dunson Johnson and George Saynor Johnson. She graduated from LaGrange High School and then went on to graduate from Sweet Briar College. While at Sweet Briar she was President of the Student Government Association, and she was a founding member of the Sweet Tones. She attended graduate school at the University of Georgia where she obtained her teaching certificate and was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma. During that year she met G. Paul Jones, Jr of Macon, and they were married on July 2, 1955. She taught first grade at Ellsworth Hall School. Dallis was a dedicated member of the First Presbyterian Church where she taught Sunday School, sang in the Chancel Choir, served on the Altar committee, and participated in other activities organized by the Women of the Church group. She served on the first Board of Trustees of the First Presbyterian Day School. She was active in many other civic and community activities throughout her 60+ years of living in Macon. She was Chairman of the Board of the Macon Symphony; she was a member of the Junior League of Macon, and served as Chairman of the League's 50th anniversary celebration. She was a member of the Town and Country Garden Club. She was active in the alumnae association of Sweet Briar College. A keen golfer, Dallis shot a hole-in-one during a round of golf in 1997. More recently, Dallis moved to Carlyle Place where she continued being actively engaged as a member of the choir, the library committee and the residents advisory council. Mrs. Jones was predeceased by her husband, G. Paul Jones, Jr.; and her son, G. Paul Jones, III. She is survived by her daughters, Sanford McAllister (Gene) of Great Falls, Montana, and Louise Geddes (Jim) of Atlanta, Georgia; and six grandchildren: Charlie Geddes, Giles Geddes, Lucia Geddes, Walker McAllister, Patrick McAllister, and Connor McAllister. She is also survived by her sister, Saynor Ponder (Buddy), her brother-in-law, Sam P Jones (Denny), her sister-in-law, Kathryn Jones all of Macon, and her sister-in-law, Molly Jones Stringer (Stacy) of Atlanta. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins and their families. The family is very grateful for the care she received especially from Veronica Namata, Cutina Thomas, Keisha Green, Jennifer Greene, Sheila Sands, and Gwen Hill, and particularly for the 30+ years of care and friendship provided by Ann Goodwin.
