Cynthia “Cissy” Hobbs Flanagan

Cynthia “Cissy” Hobbs Flanagan, 59, of Macon, GA, passed away Monday, September 5, 2022.  A graveside service will be held Saturday, September 10, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. at Evergreen Cemetery with the Reverend Tommy Jordan officiating.  The family will greet friends Friday, September 9, 2022, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Hart’s Mortuary on Cherry Street.  Flowers will be appreciated, and memorial contributions may be made to Beverly Knight Olson Children’s Hospital, P.O. Box 7718, Macon, GA 31209.

Daughter of the late John Thomas and Elizabeth Ann Stanley Hobbs, Cissy became the matriarch of the family after the passing of her mother, even though she was the youngest of 11 children.  She was a 1981 honor graduate of Northeast High School and then attended Macon Junior College.  She started working at K-Mart at 16 years old and worked there for 21 years. Most recently she was the accounting manager at MidSouth Community Federal Credit Union where she had been a dedicated employee for 21 years and loved her job.  Cissy was preceded in death by 4 brothers and 4 sisters.

Cissy is survived by her husband of 32 years, Richard “Rick” E. Flanagan of Macon; sisters, Carolyn Elaine Murphey of Macon, and Kathy R. Hobbs of Virginia Beach, Virginia; numerous nieces and nephews; and a multitude of friends.

The family would like to express a special thank you to Cissy’s nephrologist, Dr. Swathi Singanamala for the wonderful care she provided.
