Croffut Gaissert Ray; 84, of Macon, Georgia passed away Sunday, August 31, 2008. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, September 3, 2008 in the Wesley United Methodist Church at 2:00 p.m. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery. Reverend Mark Addington will officiate. Born in Hancock County, he was the son of the late Robert Andrew Ray and Kate Lucille Nichols. He is predeceased by his siblings, Bernard Nichols Ray, Annie Ray Price, Robert William Ray, and James A. Ray. He was a member of the Wesley United Methodist Church, where he was a lifetime member of the Administrative Board. Mr. Ray was a retired grocery store manager, starting his career with Rays Quality Foods which closed in 1955, then went to work for A&P Grocery Stores on Montpelier Ave, Vineville Ave, and Riverside Drive. He worked for the Pig and Whistle for four years and retired from the American Federal Building as a security guard. He is survived by several nieces and nephews The family may be contacted at the residence of Mike Ray, 6317 Rogers Road, Lizella, Ga. 31052. Hart's Mortuary and Crematory, Cherry Street has charge of arrangements.
