Macon, GA- Corawayne Weller Wright, born January 16, 1919, in Nashville, TN died January 30, 2012 at Hospice Atlanta in Georgia. Mrs. Wright graduated from George Peabody College for Teachers with a B.A. in English and French. After marriage to Thomas G. Wright in 1944, she lived in Los Angeles; Newburgh, New York (where she was employed by the United States Military Academy at West Point); and New York City. In 1949 she moved to Tallahassee, Florida as a part of the "49ers", faculty members recruited by the newly-organized coed Florida State University. For 20 years she resided in Tallahassee while raising her two daughters and participating in many community, church and university activities. The Wright family belonged to Trinity Methodist Church. Mrs. Wright served as President of the University Women's Club, 1965-1966. In 1969 she earned a Master's Degree in Library Science from Florida State University. She subsequently relocated to Macon, Georgia where she was employed as Reference Librarian at Wesleyan College for 20 years. In addition to serving on the faculty of Wesleyan College, she was a mentor to many students and professors during her tenure there. Mrs. Wright was a long-time member of the Macon Writers' Club where she acted as Speaker Chair for a number of terms. She was also a member of PEO, Christ Episcopal Church and she was a board member of The Friends of the Library. Her love of literature and her writing skills were among her many gifts to colleagues, students, friends and family. Mrs. Wright is survived by two daughters, The Honorable Cynthia D. Wright, Chief Judge of Fulton County Superior Court, Atlanta, GA and Candace Wright Springer of Apalachicola, Florida; son-in-law, Edward Springer of Apalachicola; granddaughter, Caitlin Springer of Knoxville, TN; niece, Ginny Weller Morris of Nashville, TN; nephew, The Rev. William Allen Weller of Dickson, TN and cousin, Frances Hancock McCoy of Whittier, CA. She was preceded in death by her two sisters, Katherine Weller Jones and Nancy Weller, and her brother, William Allen Weller, Jr., all of Nashville, TN. A memorial service will be held at Christ Episcopal Church, Macon, Georgia on Monday, February 6, 2012 at 2 p.m. with The Reverend Harriette Simmons officiating.
