Clifton Gordon Orr

October 8, 1946 — January 15, 2013

Clifton Gordon Orr, lifelong resident of Macon, Georgia passed away peacefully Jan. 15, 2013 at his home. A memorial service will be held Friday, Jan. 18th at 11:00AM at Hart's Mortuary at the Cupola. The family will greet friends for 30 minutes before the service. Dr. Tripp Martin, pastor at Vineville Baptist Church in Macon, will be officiating. Mr. Orr was born and grew up in Macon, the son of Louise Chapman Orr and Clifton Brinson Orr, Jr. He received his Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Georgia Southwestern in Americus and his Master of Business Administration from Georgia College in Milledgeville. Mr. Orr served his country in the U.S. Army as a medical corpsman in Okinawa from 1969 to 1971, receiving great commendation and a National Defense Service Medal. He has been a highly respected financial advisor for 38 years, the last 13 of which has been with the firm of Wells Fargo Advisors. Cliff was married to Jennifer Agnew Orr, his wife of 39 years. Cliff and Jenny met in the second grade, reconnected after college, and have lived in Macon their entire married lives. Cliff was a devoted father of two sons, Charles Brinson Orr and Brandt Gordon Orr. Brinson and Brandt have followed in their father's footsteps going into business related occupations. Their father was a great source of guidance and financial wisdom as they were educated and began their financial careers. His greatest loves were spending time with his family at home, serving the financial needs of his clients as if they were his family, and cooking. Several years ago Cliff spearheaded the formation of two teams of employees at Wells Fargo to provided dinner for families at Ronald McDonald House once a month. The two teams have lovingly continued this tradition. Mr. Orr was predeceased by his father, Clifton Brinson Orr, Jr. and is survived by his beloved wife, Jenny; their two sons, Brinson and Brandt (Paula); as well as his mother, Louise Chapman Orr; sister, Ellen Orr; brother, David (Leiann) and their children: Russell, Hannah, and Parker. He was greatly loved by Jenny's family: her parents, the late Charles Alexander Agnew and Mary Ellen Robertson Agnew of Macon; her two sisters, Monnie Agnew of Macon, and Mimi (David) Kroeber of Atlanta and their families. Cliff will be greatly missed by his adored grandog, Millie Jane, who remained at his side day and night throughout his illness. The family wishes to send special appreciation and love to all those who have cared for Cliff and his family this past year with kind words, thoughtful acts, and the highest level of medical care. Some of those are: Mary Bell Vaughn, his personal doctor and dear friend; Shirley Smith, a friend of the family and chosen Hospice Care Options nurse; Ken Haynie and Cliff's business colleagues and friends at Wells Fargo Advisors; and Dr. Frederick Schnell and his professional and loving staff at Central Georgia Cancer Care of Macon. The family requests that any donations friends wish to make in Mr. Orr's memory be made to the American Cancer society, Ronald McDonald House, or Mt. de Sales Academy. Register online at www.hartsmort.com. Hart's Mortuary at the Cupola is in charge of arrangements.
