Claude Burns Buzzell

Claude Cason Burns Buzzell, passed away January 7, 2023. She was the daughter of Sidney Lanier Burns and Loulie Cason Forester. She was born October 31,1929 in Knoxville, Tennessee. She moved to Macon, Georgia as a young child. A graduate of A. L. Miller High School she attended Wesleyan College where she majored in history of art. In 1950 she married William Joseph Buzzell while he served as a Lieutenant in the Army during the Korean Conflict.

A lifelong Presbyterian she was a member of Northminster Presbyterian Church.

She was a member of the Junior League of Macon, a founding member of the Fine Arts Committee of the Museum of Arts and Sciences, the Macon Town Committee of The Colonial Dames of America, the History Club of Macon, and the Shirley Hills Garden Club.

She was preceded in death by her parents Sidney Lanier Burns, Loulie Forester Burns, her husband of 68 years, William Joseph Buzzell and granddaughter Virginia Parker Buzzell. She is survived by her sister, Loulie Burns Henderson of New Bern, North Carolina, her children Reginald William Buzzell II (Virginia) of Macon, Georgia, Sydney Buzzell Jackson (Thomas) of Athens, Georgia, and Francesca Buzzell Leskosky of Macon, Georgia. Her grandchildren are Claudia Cason Buzzell Wilkin (Robert), Reginald William Buzzell III (Mary Allison) of Macon, Georgia, Dr. Lanier Burns Jackson (Anne) of Charleston, South Carolina, Thomas Lewis Jackson, Jr. (Emily) of Atlanta, Georgia, Sutton Leskosky Boling (Lance) of Atlanta Georgia, Julia Link McNure (Trevor) of Atlanta, Georgia, and McAllister Burns Leskosky (Hali) of Macon Georgia.

Her great grandchildren are Robert Eager Wilkin III, Virginia Parker Wilkin, Nancy Anne Buzzell, Reginald William Buzzell IV, Brooks Parker Buzzell, Thomas Bryan Jackson, William Burns Jackson, Louisa Jane Jackson, Henry Sawyer Jackson, Jackson Burns Boling and Tillerson Link McNure.

The family will have a private funeral service on Wednesday, January 11th, 2023, at Riverside Cemetery. Reverend Ralph W. Hawkins will officiate.
