Christine Parker Harshbarger, 96, passed away on December 5, 2016, surrounded by her loving family in her home of 75 years. She was born to Henry Alonzo Parker and Ouida Cosey Parker at her grandparents' home outside of Macon. She graduated from Miller High School in 1938, attended business school, worked at Bibb Manufacturing Company and at Wesleyan College as secretary to the Registrar and then secretary to the Director of Admissions. A loving wife, she was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, Harry Clayton Harshbarger, Sr. She is survived by her five children, Gini Lamback (Sam) of Macon, Clay Harshbarger (Marcia) of Culloden, Jack Harshbarger (Susan) of Dahlonega, Randy Harshbarger of Macon, Don Harshbarger (Wanda) of Ball Ground; her sister-in-law, Dorothy Harshbarger; niece, Paula O'Connor (Bill); and half-brother, James Parker. Christine's life was greatly enriched by her nine grandchildren, Christy Benitez (Tony), Mark Lamback (Elizabeth), Emily Browder (Tom), Anne Tyler Harshbarger, Katie DeFoor (Jeff), Julia Ann Chambless (Jonathan), Colin Harshbarger (Elise), Clayton Harshbarger, and Miranda Harshbarger; and her twelve great-grandchildren, Lydia, Lauryn, Katherine, Samuel, Anne Lawton, Creighton, Griffin, Jay, Anna Kate, Benjamin, Josiah and Jacob. She was a woman of faith who was a member of Park Memorial U.M.C. and formerly of First Christian Church. Christine loved life in so many ways. She was a devoted homemaker with a reputation as a wonderful cook. She loved nature and tending her flower gardens. She had a zest for life and enjoyed exploring new places. She set a wonderful example of a simple life well-lived. A service to celebrate her life will be held at Hart's at the Cupola, 6324 Peake Road, on Friday, December 9, 2016, at 2:00PM with the Reverend Sam Lamback officiating. The family will greet friends on Thursday, December 8, from 5:00-7:00PM at the home of Gini and Sam Lamback, 821 Wesleyan Drive.
