Macon- Cherry Taylor, 61, of Macon, died Wednesday, August 27, 2008. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, August 31, 2008 at 3:00PM in the Chapel of Ingleside Baptist Church with Dr. Timothy McCoy, and the Reverend Mark Hudgins officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery. The family will greet friends Saturday from 6:00PM until 8:00PM at Hart's at the Cupola, 6324 Peake Road. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Ingleside Baptist Church, 834 Wimbish Road, Macon, GA 31210 or to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society at http://www.nationalmssociety.org/.
Mrs. Taylor was a member of Ingleside Baptist Church where she was very involved with the children's ministry. She was born and raised in Vidalia. A graduate of the University of Georgia, she taught school in Jefferson, GA and at Tattnall Square Academy in Macon. Mrs. Taylor was a member of the Junior League of Macon and was an active volunteer at the Museum of Arts and Sciences. She was predeceased by her husband, John Herschel Taylor, Jr.
Mrs. Taylor is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, John Tyler and Leigh Anne Taylor of Atlanta; daughter, Tiffany Leigh Taylor of Atlanta; three grandchildren, John Andrew Taylor, Anna Klemis Taylor, and Sydney Elizabeth Taylor, all of Atlanta; two sisters, Nancy Hall of Warner Robins and Benjy Boatright of Vidalia, GA; two sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Patricia and Dan Lott of Sea Island and Ann and Jimmy McLeod of Tallahassee, FL; and mother-in-law, Virginia Grant Taylor of Oglethorpe, GA; and seven nieces and nephews, McGregor Lott, Ginny Lott, Jim Lott, Jim McLeod, John McLeod, Carly Jones, and Ben Collins.
