Charlotte Stakely Nolan Goodin

Charlotte Stakely Nolan Goodin was born in Senoia Georgia on March 15, 1919, the daughter of Benjamin Ansley Nolan and Emmie Virginia Caldwell Nolan. She grew up in Senoia, attending Coweta County public schools. She attended Georgia State College for Women at Milledgeville, receiving her Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education. She began her teaching career in Warwick, Georgia. She moved to Atlanta, teaching in the Atlanta Public School system. In 1944 she married Robert T. (Bob) Goodin, who was serving in the US Navy in Miami, Florida. Upon Bob's discharge from the Navy, they returned to Atlanta where Robert resumed his career with George Muse Clothing Co. and Charlotte continued to teach in Atlanta Public Schools. Their only child, Robert B., was born in 1947. Charlotte continued to teach until her retirement. Charlotte was a member of Capitol View Methodist Church and Oak Grove Methodist Church. She enjoyed fishing with Bob and was a skilled painter of fine china. She knitted, crocheted, and tended her azaleas. Since 2002 she has resided at Carlyle Place in Macon. Charlotte is predeceased by her husband, Robert T Goodin; sisters, Virginia Nolan Methvin and Willena Nolan Gambrell; niece, Virginia Methvin Jackson and her husband Dr Gordon W. Jackson; and brother, Louis C. Nolan. She is survived by her son, Robert B. Goodin and his wife Susan of Duluth, MN; nieces, Merrill Jackson Carter and her husband Steven, Ginger Jackson Leftwich and her husband Robert, Diane Gambrell and family; nephews, Benjamin Jackson and his wife Renee, Bill Gambrell, Ed Gambrell and his wife Lana, and David C. Nolan; longtime friends, Mike and Nancy Henson; and longtime caregiver Celena Williams; as well as many nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be at Hart's at the Cupola, 6324 Peake Rd, Macon, Georgia at 11:00AM on Tuesday, January 8, 2013 with Dr. Joe Edwards officiating. She will be buried beside her beloved Bob at Floral Hills Cemetery in Tucker, Georgia at 3:00PM. Visitation will be between 4:00-6:00PM on Monday, January 7, 2013 at Hart's at the Cupola.
