Charlotte Watson Lavender

Macon-Charlotte Watson Lavender, 89, went home to be with her Lord on Thursday, May 27, 2010. Funeral services will be held at 3:00PM on Saturday, May 29, 2010 at Hart's at the Cupola with the Reverend Garry Willis officiating. Family visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the Cupola. Burial will follow in Glen Haven Memorial Gardens. Donations may be made to Calvary Baptist Church, 5046 Fulton Mill Road, Macon, GA 31216.

Mrs. Lavender was born on August 24, 1920 in Milledgeville, GA. Her parents were the late Frank Eugene Watson, Sr. and Mamie Viola Ivey Watson. Mrs. Lavender was a charter member of Calvary Baptist Church (formerly Rivoli Baptist). She loved children and taught Sunday School to 4 and 5 year olds for 45 years. She worked as a teaching assistant at Clisby Elementary School for many years. She loved her family dearly. She also loved her companion - a little dog, Maggie.

Mrs. Lavender was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, Leonard Jackson Lavender, Sr.; brothers, John Marion Watson and William Edwin Watson, and sister, Mary Watson.

Survivors include son, Leonard Jackson Lavender, Jr. (Jack) of Macon; daughter, Linda Lavender Sutton of Macon; three grandchildren; five great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; and brother, Frank E. Watson, Jr. of North Carolina.
