Charles "Biggie" LeGrande Cannon, Jr., 90, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 11, 2016. A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, January 14, 2016 at 4:00PM at Riverside United Methodist Church with the Reverends Anthony McPhail and Deborah Wallace officiating. Burial will be private. The family will greet friends on Wednesday from 5:00PM until 7:00PM at Hart's Mortuary, 765 Cherry Street. Mr. Cannon graduated from Lanier High School and Mercer University where he was a member of KA Fraternity. He served two years in the United States Army Air Corps during World War II. Charlie was a charter member of Riverside United Methodist Church where he taught Sunday school and served on various committees. Charlie retired from Macon-Bibb County Health Department and District 5 State Health Department. In 1981, he was named Sanitarian of the Year for GPHA. Charlie enjoyed fishing and traveling and was a loving and caring father. Charlie was predeceased by his parents, Charles and Esther Cannon, and his brother, Daniel Brandt Cannon. Charlie is survived by his longtime companion, Mary Alexander of Macon; daughters, Carey McPhail and Mary "Cisty" McArthur (Steve), both of Macon; grandchildren, the Rev. Anthony McPhail (Emma) of Macon, Alex McArthur of Macon, Brooke Davis (Kyle) of Marietta, Kelly Jungberg (Jason) of Forsyth; Mary's son, Johnny Alexander (Tracey) and their five children of Juliette; former wife, Mary K. Cannon of Macon; four great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Helen Cannon of Jacksonville, Florida. Register online at www.hartsmort.com.
