On Thursday, October 21, 2021, Charles (Jody) Joseph Gorman IV, loving husband and father of two children, passed away at the age of 53 following a brief illness.
Jody was born in Macon, Georgia on March 7, 1968, to Charles (Butch) Joseph Gorman, III and Martha Berry Conner Gorman. He graduated from Jonesco Academy and attended Macon State College. He was the President and owner of Gorman and Gorman Electric Company.
Jody was preceded in death by his father, Charles (Butch) Joseph Gorman III. He is survived by his wife, Carol Chapman Gorman, his son, Adam Gorman, daughter, Jordan Gorman and his brother, Jonathan David (Jon) Gorman (Tracy). He is survived by his uncle, Alton Randal (Randy) Gorman (Becky). Jody was stepfather to Matthew Richard Greer, (Estelle), Nathan Edward Greer, (Emily), and Rosemary Bailey (Palmer). He enjoyed spending time with his blended family of eight step-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Jody shared his father’s passion for detail, especially in working with his hands, fishing and enjoying any activities that involved being out on the water. He had recently renewed a lifelong hobby of airbrush painting. He designed a sophisticated art studio space for his wife Carol as a surprise birthday gift, and they spent many wonderful moments painting together. They also spent countless hours together in the kitchen, cooking and creating their favorite foods. No matter what he was attempting to prepare, he researched and equipped their kitchen with any possible tool, gadget or appliance to make the process state of the art. He finally mastered his favorite food by recreating the coveted Shakey’s Special Pizza. Jody was an avid music lover and spent his life inspiring, supporting and nurturing his and Adam’s mutual love of music. His daughter Jordan brought much pride and joy as he supported her in her passion for all things related to her love for horses. He was a constant presence and showed great pride as he watched over her in every arena. Most recently, he delighted in moving her horses to attend college with her at Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College.
Anyone who knew Jody described him as a kind and gentle giant. He was humble, curious, and appreciative of each new day as a fresh start to do what was right. His mischievous smile, deep laugh and harmless pranks were tempered by a respectful and no-nonsense approach to honesty and integrity. He took care of things, without judgment or any expectation of credit or praise. His love for his work, his family and his friends was infectious, life changing, and unforgettably rare. If you asked him what he did for a living, he would reply that “I am a simple electrician who twists wires together and occasionally light people up.” He had the ability to light up joy in others, to impart wisdom through quotes or jokes, or in an instant, fill a room with love.
